South Africa ~ a world of experiences in one country! From elegant wine to regal lions and colorful flowers to lively penguins, discover the grandeur of the wilderness and wildlife in South Africa. Delight in game drives that reveal treasured sightings of the Big Five, bask in stunning panoramas that sweep across lush vineyards and the miles and miles of wild coastline, and indulge in the splendors of private game reserves where you can see more wildlife in open vehicles, off road, and in a smaller area without other vehicles or visitors.

• Drive along the scenic coastal roads to George, Knysna and Plettenberg of the famed Garden Route with your private guide, along 160 miles of South Africa's gorgeous craggy coastline dotted with fishing villages, pristine bays and spectacular vistas doing day hikes, boat rides, bungee jumping and more along the way.

Best Time To Visit
JAN ++ FEB ++ MAR ++ APR ++ MAY +++ JUN +++ JUL +++ AUG +++ SEP +++ OCT ++ NOV++ DEC ++
+++ = May through October
This is the dry season with fantastic game viewing in the safari regions as the grasses are shortest and animals congregate around water holes. Mornings and evenings are cool while daytime temperatures are pleasant. Note: As this is winter in South Africa, the Cape Peninsula and Cape Town can be cold and rainy during this period. May and September are particularly good months to combine Cape Town and safari.
++ = November through April
These months are fantastic for shoulder season travel (April and November) and for enjoying warm, dry and sunny weather at the Cape. Seasonal summer rains fall during these months in the safari areas, resulting in lush landscapes.
Getting Around:
Scheduled, shared or private charter aircraft and scheduled commercial air; overland road transfers
Pairs well with:
Botswana; Zambia; Zimbabwe; Victoria Falls (Zambia or Zimbabwe side); Mozambique; Mauritius and sometimes Namibia. Also can work fine with East Africa.
Fun Facts:
The oldest remains of modern humans were found in South Africa and are well over 160,000 years old.
